This dish is so easy to make and the creamy, tangy goat cheese blends perfectly with the sweetness of the balsamic vinegar. It makes a beautiful presentation for a dinner party dessert or for a Sunday brunch.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces goat cheese log, not crumbles
- 1/4 cup good, aged balsamic vinegar, plus more for drizzling
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup goat cheese crumbles, optional
- 1/8 cup basil, chiffonade, for garnish
- Flaky finishing salt such as Malden’s sea salt flakes
Instructions
- Slice the goat cheese log, and place into a small sized pan over low heat. Stir until melted.
- Slowly whisk in balsamic vinegar until smooth.
- Evenly pour the goat cheese and balsamic mixture into bottom of each of 4 serving bowls and top with sliced strawberries.
- Drizzle with a bit of additional balsamic vinegar, a tablespoon of the honey, garnish with basil leaves, and a sprinkle of the goat cheese crumbles, optional.
- Finish with flaky sea salt and serve.
Notes
Be sure to use whole goat cheese for the cream because most goat cheese crumbles will not melt.
Chiffonade is a slicing technique used to for herbs, such as basil and vegetables like Swiss chard to cut into long thin ribbons, also great for collard greens.
