This is an easy recipe. It comes together in minutes and is a delicious crowd pleaser. Homemade teriyaki is free of preservatives and extra sugar, and it tastes amazing and so fresh.
Ingredients
- One small, wild caught salmon filet with skin
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 plump, garlic clove, minced
- 1 piece ginger, peeled and minced, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- A few cilantro or parsley sprigs for garnish, optional
Instructions
- Mix everything together except the salmon and herbs, and pour a thin layer onto a rimmed baking sheet. Place the salmon flesh side down and then pour the remainder of the sauce over the top of the salmon. Marinate for 1 hour, but 2-3 hours is even better.
- Prior to grilling, remove the salmon from the refrigerator and let it sit for 20-30 minutes to come to room temperature.
- Preheat the grill for 10 minutes on high. Reduce the grill heat to medium and place the fish, flesh side down, on to the hot grill and grill for 5 minutes. Then flip the fish and grill for another 4 minutes for medium.
- Let the salmon rest for 4-5 minutes, garnish with herbs if using, and enjoy.
